"Flowers by the fence" is one of the most famous paintings of Kateryna Bilokur (1960-1961), a genius Ukrainian artist. Bilokur was born and lived her entire life in the Bohdanivka village in Poltava region. She didn't get access to art education despite repeated attempts. She was learning painting on her own choosing flowers as models and copying plants from nature. Despite all the limitations and barriers, Kateryna Bilokur created a number of masterpieces in naive art and folk decorative painting, including the painting "Flowers by the fence" painted in oil in 1935. Nowadays this painting is stored in the National Folk Decorative Art Museum in Kyiv.
