Heorhiy Narbut (09.03.1886 – 23.05.1920) was a Ukrainian graphic artist, illustrator, one of the founders of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts, and its first rector. Narbut is often called the "Designer of the Ukrainian State," as he authored the designs for the first Ukrainian banknotes, postage stamps, and the draft design for the coat of arms and seal of the Ukrainian People's Republic (UNR), as well as an alphabet and unique font. The true popularity of his work in Ukraine became possible only now, a hundred years after its creation. Narbut developed a national style that combined Art Nouveau (Modern) with the decorativeness of Kozak Baroque. To achieve this, Heorhiy Narbut, himself a descendant of an old Cossack senior family, thoroughly studied ancient Ukrainian painting, the heraldry of Ukrainian families, and the graphics of Ukrainian manuscripts and early printed books.

The work "Aeneas And His Soldiers" featured in this puzzle, was created by Narbut in 1919. He intended it to be one of a series of illustrations for Ivan Kotliarevsky's epic poem "Eneida." Unfortunately, it became the only illustration the artist managed to complete. Heorhiy Narbut died at the age of 34 from illness. Despite his short life, he left a powerful legacy whose influence is only now gaining momentum. The painting "Aeneas And His Soldiers" like many other works by Heorhiy Narbut, is preserved in the Kharkiv Art Museum.
